While a visit to Cabo San Lucas anytime is exciting, annual events and festivals add greater depth and a dose of local color to your stay.

July

Fiesta of the Virgin of Carmen

Virgin Carmen is believed to be a protector of the Mexican Nation. Vendors take to the streets to sell their handicrafts. Other events during the Fiesta include a fishing competition and bullfights, which are staged at the imposing Bull Stadium.

Festival of St James

A Roman Catholic Festival, celebrating St. James the Apostle and featuring white horses with costumed riders, along with various reenactments around the town square in the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas.

August

Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Celebrates the Virgin Mary's departure from earth and heaven. Processions with musical bands and floats denote the Virgin Mary's life. Restaurants offer feast-style dinner buffet specials until the wee hours.

Los Cabos Summer Dive Fiesta

Various activities are held around the coastline and appeal to scuba divers of varying abilities. Many of the events take place as evening approaches and include beach parties and many other gatherings, especially around the Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park.

September

Baby Sea Turtle Release

Many people head to the northern outskirts of Cabo San Lucas at this time of the year, where enormous numbers of sea turtles come to nest on the sandy beaches. Resorts participate in the conservation effort by organizing supervised baby turtle release programs, helping the tiny creatures make their first journey safely into the sea, September - October.

Nuestra Señora Day

This is a National holiday in Mexico that takes place on September 8th.

Mexican Independence Day

This local holiday celebrates Baja's first mission, September 15-16th.

October

Whale Migration

During the warm winter months it is possible to watch a number of huge whales, as they migrate and pass the bay. If you are lucky, you may be able to spot humpback, blue, grey and sperm whales. Whale watching cruises are a good way to get the best views and are readily available all around the coastline of Cabo San Lucas.

Nuestra Señora del Pilar Festival

Lasting about a week, large numbers of street vendors gather around Todos Santos. Other highlights include live music, dancing and a carnival atmosphere.

La Raza Day

This day celebrates Columbus' arrival to America, and the historical origins of the Mexican Mestizo race, which is a blend of Spanish and indigenous people.

Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Birthday Bash
